While there are many forms of activism, the only one that really has the power to change our world for the better is people changing themselves. We can all work together to bring about change in our world, but only if we ourselves are doing that change. When you think of activism, do you automatically picture people wearing funny costumes while gathering in a field? If so, you are missing out on an important part of the picture. To have real impact, you need to be willing to look at yourself and ask yourself if you are being the best possible person you can be.

Then come up with a plan on how to do that. Anyone can gather people together and demand something from them. But what happens when they don’t do what they are told? How will they be affected by what happens to them? There is also something called “community” that goes beyond group dynamics.

Community is made up of people who care enough about each other to bring about change for the better. Community is more powerful than anything else because it is based on caring, not competition.
